Rinse it out first. Actually, once rinsed, you should have a (covered and out of reach) bucket of bleach water that they sit in until washed.
I can do diapers, but still struggle with animal poop in the machine. It's in how our minds work.
I think I could buy stock in the new laundry sanitizer out. I'd make a fortune on myself!
Of course, cloth diapers are at least useful when you run out of disposables, or money to get them.

Having a bucket of anything doesn't survive around here with toddlers, I can't risk bleach and my little ones in the same house. We use vinegar for cleaning, and that just wouldn't be stomachable for me with diapers. LOL
I've considered it, I just know myself and know that I don't want to deal with it, and I can promise you my husband would never agree to wash out a poopy diaper and wash it in the laundry. He's totally willing to change a regular diaper, but that's about his limit. LOL
