Bummer... I had the same thing happen to the one I set upsideown.

On a good note, the air cells were so small on those eggs when they arrived, that I couldn't find most of them. That is why I assumed that to be the correct side.

Other than the one I just lost because I put it upside down (air cell was in the pointed end, but only barely a difference) I had a Swedish Flower with an air cell on the long end, exact center. It wasn't under a broody. Therefore, I set the air cell up, with an angle to the large end (hoping it would grow toward the large end- never did). I was surprised that she internally pipped perfectly and had no problems zipping/ no assistance was required.
