Still swamped with work - near-allnighter last night trying to get something done, took a 6 hour "nap" after work today, then just spent another 4 hours getting stuff done.

Hmmm.... Not much else to say. I bought six apple trees that I'm planting this weekend, and I also need to get my fall garden in. I've delayed because it's been in the 90s lately (crazy even for South Texas). I got stung by a wasp while clearing brush last week and I now apparently have what's called a "large local reaction" allergy - see below (it eventually extended from armpit to wrist by the next day). I am now the proud owner of oral steroids in the medicine cabinet (for the next inevitable sting) and an EpiPen. Lucky me.

The chickens are fine (though they occasionally poop in the nest box which is really starting to tick me off - any ideas?) While I have ideas for who to breed with whom, etc., I have 32 on hand and plenty in the freezer and more eggs than I need, so I'm holding off before doing any hatching until at least Spring. I got a couple of the pullet shut automatic doors because locking up and letting out the chickens was starting to interfere with work timing - pricy, but I had no choice, and it is worth it this time of year when it gets light so late and dark so early. Waiting to build the next big coop until after the monster red oak it'll be under loses its leaves (I need to do some trimming). My three German New Hampshire boys I got from Eight Acres/Luane are SO handsome, and they are mild mannered and still living in harmony in the bachelor pad coop with Chunky Monkey (the splash CM). I picked one up the other day and almost pulled a muscle - I need to weigh them. They are huge!

I'll try to get some photos of them. But, just for fun, here's a caterpillar camouflaged as bird poop on one of my citrus trees (it took a while to convince the chickens to eat it). You are welcome.

Ouch! Fire Ant Farm! So glad I'm not allergic, had the crap stung out of me on our roof changing the sensor to our dusk to dawn light we haven't used in yrs, can't run from them on a roof! Lol! Then I had to go back up to get the darn nest out before we could use it. Wow! that looks awful, my leg swelled up but nothing like that....
