Crazy humidity, isn't it?
U of KY uses a CEH ointment to treat bumblefoot in raptors.
All I could get before was a Calendula cream and extracts of Echinacea and Hypericum. They didn't mix well because it was like trying to mix oil and water. I did use it successfully on 3 other birds in the past but the cream is now expired.
If daily soaking in Epsom salts and the herb treatment doesn't help in 4 or 5 days, I may have to break down and take him to the vet. He's my most valuable rooster since he is not from my flock's gene pool.
I just want it cured before the infection gets into his bone.
Wow, nice set up!One of the broody apartments.
I peek in the window to count feces. That way I know if they came off the nest the previous day.View attachment 1108648
Temp has been 99 for since Friday at midnight (hatch day and time), humidity same, all air cells looked picture perfect minus one. The one was the largest egg, and had a very small air cell. It looked like a day 14. I kept humidity on the low side through the whole incubating process. 35-40.Too many unknowns for me to say.
1. How long has temps been at 99? Seems low
2. How long has humidity been at 75 to 80? Seems high.
3. What were the air cells like at lockdown.
4. When were they due to hatch. I'm assuming it's past time due to the others that have hatched.

I will be viewing it close to the Apex on a pack trip in the Grand Tetons weather permittingIt's quite the addiction! If you feel the need, come join us over at incubators anonymous lol
I hope your roo heals up. I noticed one of my new hens limping the other day (LF Cochin from the swap) and checked her out. She had bumblefoot. I pulled the scan and squeezed and a massive pointed corn came out. I feel terrible for them when they have that!
I haven't seen those before but now I'm very interested!
I totally forgot about that last night! We wanted to see them too :/
Anyone in perfect position for the Eclipse coming up? We might be driving 4 1/2 hours down in to west begonia just to get a better view than well have up here. Still won't be total though.
I solved the issue, at least for now. Ground up enough of my regular pelleted feed (like all flock) to fill a small Mason jarYes,
I do not use medicated, as I have never used it. There is some line of thought using it might make your existing non- medicated flock ill.
I am not sure, one way or a another.
Makes a lot of senseIn my opinion it is a stupidity to use medicated feed on a daily basis , because it slowly bilds a resistance in the parasites population by selecting out the sensitive ones.
How on earth Does one get a chicken to soak their feet? That might be a sight to see. Set up an exhibit and charge a fee to look. . bam there's your vet money!I found this:

Is this the right stuff? Did you have any luck with it at all? I have one rooster "One-Eyed Jack" That has a toe that is bumbled, I have soaked and soaked in Epsom and use antibiotic creams with no luck, it is not spreading up his leg..
I want to keep him, but do not want to pay $300 to take him to a vet..
Is this the stuff? Does it work at all? I have one rooster I want to try and save without spending 200 bucks at a vet.
How long are they in?I'm in need of help. I have 16 eggs not hatched. I see no movements, no chirping, no egg movement (except the little ones already hatched and playing)
I've made sure humidity is staying between 75-80, temp is 99. I've seen one internal pip. Time to assist?
