EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

 I was selling mostly bantams. I'd get a half sandwich of meat and a teeny bit of stock at most. Not really worth a life when I can get the five bucks for them and they can continue on for a few more years in a good home.

They were laying well enough to pull their weight, I just plain had too many birds...

Your hubby really does sound like a character. He have time enough to jump on BYC for a sec and give us a lecture on photography and economics, lol?
He is a pain were the sun don't shine! But he's a keeper. Trust me, he gets on a roll, I roll on out.. A lighter version his mom, she is hardcore brutal honesty in your face.. As long as he comes home and not stray off like his buddies, I let him think this is his kingdom!
I keep the farm and house all day, and don't go far from. Nothing else to talk about in a sence.. Now I'm sad....:lau

In all seriousness, I think of distance in miles if I'm actually experiencing the distance in person. Our land is measured and mapped in miles, I can physically count it out if I'm finding someone's house. And plus I'm a farmer. I talk sections and bushels, not hectares and tonnes. :sick

But with speed and clocked distances...I think in kms. The metric system caught me partway in school so I "technically" use both. :wee
How long is a country mile??

Makes sense. Soon as I'm switched over to LF that are worth eating I will probably process and quit selling.

I still have to figure out how to take said dead bird and make it edible---I can kill 'em but it's fear of the unknown that's getting me on the next part.

I need to talk to my neighbour and beg processing lessons off him. The other place I was going to go to didn't work out.

I used this one when I was a teen learning about processing. This is actually a two-parter but this is the butchering side of it not the killing side.
