I have the hatch from hell. Power outages, surges, and still some eggs survived all that. We just started day 23 a few hours ago. One chicken hatched in the morning and is doing fine. The power was out so it was emergency. I handled it as best as I could. I thought the rest of the eggs died but 4 are (were) still alive 5 hours ago (candled, floated). 2 hours ago the light overheated and again I thought they died. 2 of them internally pipped and one is also chirping from time to time. Temp is stable now, I am sure the chirping one is still doing ok. How long is it between internal and external pip? While I want to have all hatched, the chirping one is special. It came from a dead pet hen and we would love to save the offspring since the hen was a favourite. I am trying to go with the flow and accept what I can't control, but I gave it my best shot to kerp the eggs warm and hatched the zipped egg with my own body heat and kept the incubator warm with my car idling and blasting hot air for hours. Power was out for 7 hours and out of the 6 eggs 1 died. So far against all odds there they are the 4 of them and I would like to know they will be ok.
