EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

ChickenCanoe will tell you that if an egg doesn't hatch on day 21, it's not going to. But he's not new to it all (he's sure of his conditions) and has had eggs take longer.
I can tell you that chicken eggs have hatched on day 28.
We can all say what we know. And that is so very scary!! We can hurt newbies by telling them to touch an egg too soon. The float test... I don't remember ANYONE saying it was okay on day 22. It really is a last resort.
When it comes to assisting, I don't recommend it for everyone. Especially the first time incubating.
But (people that have been here a while, close your eyes), it's easy once you are ready. Because... :D Duckling wasn't even two when she assisted an egg all by herself. Her hands, my instructions.

But what's one supposed to do there. Sit on the beach?
Bury your daughter up to her chin and put your feet in her face.. duh

So? Ocation are crowded too, and 100 people IS not crowded.
Only a winter woman can ask this question! Watermelon is a summer fruit.
100 people not a crowd? Depends on your point of reference. I don't see 100 people a month unless I count those in passing cars.

I bought a new pair of sweat pants to try out, just for wearing around home. MEN's pants so they're cheaper. They have pockets!! The women's thin crappy pants were between $20-30 dollars. The chickens don't care what I look like. Anyways...we all got new socks too and we picked out our own colors this morning.
(I wear men's socks and they ALWAYS end up taking my socks):barnie

I am wearing the new pants and socks & they feel positively exquisite!! :love:wee
And better yet...no holes. :clap
I hate shopping I had to go today and stop at name brand clothing on my way home from a safety meeting. I needed some white pants for the goat show Cent showing horses and goats some stupid people seem to think white is a good idea. So someone said to me when I was at the store you know those pants have a stain on them and I said yeah well I'm going to wear them to a buck show and get paid on all weekend so they're going to be yellow before it's over anyway. It was great I got a couple of size 8 white pants and a pair of capri's for $1 or $2 each and when they get ruined who cares.

Yes, that what happens when you live in the desert , but the majority of humanity live in, towns and cities and 100 people is nothing!

Don't worry about it. He's strictly hands off, a good many of the rest of us candle whenever we see prudent and don't have issues.
And then there are those of us that like to candle multiple times per hour around the clock.

Ok...but here's one of the eggs that my hen got off of and went eating. I was there when she jumped off...I was a bit concerned but I figure she's the chicken...she should know what she's doing. The egg hatched fine. Yep...I took a pic of the egg for proof of my shock and for showing what stage the egg was at. Wasn't meant for posting on here...but since it's in the context of the issue of opening the incubator...here it is. This is my first hatch of guinea keets.
