EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

We had an infestation of them once several years ago. I saw them so thick on a barn door that I couldn't see the door. They eventually went away & the ladybugs came in to infest your house. They pretty much went away, and for the last several years it's been the stink bugs

They are much worse than that now. That was two or so weeks ago.:sick

Read a book about labor that's geared more at labor support/and hospital staff. (but good read for doulas/husbands/labor support people, too, including positions, labor techniques, etc.)
Told my hubby he had a reading assignment.

He slept through my last labor. I told him I'd beat him if he slept through this one. LOL
For all the stuff I tease (and am sometimes genuinely peeved) my husband about since we can have a difference of opinions...and although he's not into the um, more sensitive sights of vetting and such on the farm...he held my hand the whole time right from 10pm to 6:45 am when the boy was born and he cut the cord and everything. I give him pretty big props for that. :clap :love

Maybe I should think of this when he washes his arms and gets dirt spots all over the sink. :p :lau

So... I found appropriate size pipe cutters for decapitating birds. Now to wait for motivation to find me.
I had one like that. It went after me in the morning. When I got home from work, I set the canning pot with water to scald, dispatched the offender and started plucking. My Youngest came home from school and saw me busy at work.

I told here that Dinner was going to be a bit late that night, I was still plucking the chicken! She gave me a look and walked away quickly....

I try not to laugh.. We are blessed to be mechanically inclined. It's just that I sell birds for 5 bucks to go into a $1200 house. I think it could be duplicated for a fraction of the price.
There also a since of satisfaction of building your own creation. Not to mention pride.
Do you know how many birds I have to hatch/feed/raise to see $1200 bucks? We should pre fab hutches and forget this egg factory thingy I barely profit on.
I did a quick estimate/guestimate and am at about $700 without the price of studs, latches etc, 4x4s and trim and nest boxes. I may/may own something like this, but mine are sided and the roof is tinned. I can guarantee it's never going to get built here...mechanically inclined but too much other more important stuff.

That's what I'm heading out to paint; interior...not exterior.
