EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Another funny moment of the day:
DS was Student of the week (2nd grade) and shared a little about himself & of course his chickens. Today he received a cute memory book from his classmates. It was very sweet and will be cherished. However it did tell me that we need to invite a couple of his classmates over to play, so they may see what real chickens look like. LOL

I really enjoy children's abstract art.

Darker colors always fade fast. However the paints today are very watered down. There was a red barn on 80 that looked real good for about two years. It’s now pink from fading

I think I painted it in 2017, not even close to faded pink. :lau

Sitting out here in the blind waiting for a decent deer to show. Been a groundhog near the feeder for the better part of an hour helping himself to the corn on the ground. I noticed something white on his head, so I trained the 8x21s on him; darn thing has a tusk, like a wild hog! Just on the right side, though. Seen a lot of 'hogs, never one like that.

What the heck, choot em!

Craigslist is killing me today.. Ready to hand it back to DH..
I guy just tried to bully me over the phone saying HE PAYS $5 for roos & $10 for hens. Demanding me to sell him my males at that price. Raising his voice on the price and repeatingly asking for my address so he could come pick them up and how many males there was.
I told him I will call the Sheriff Office if he calls back.
I am switching the Ads back to DH # tonight. I had enough of craigslist crap.

There is something wrong with some people.

Ya'll were talking about weather a while back, yeah, I'm behind again...healing up .. I hope. Doc says I am...mri on shoulder next week.. Anyway, Utah weather...cold, warm, cold, warm...like yesterday was 74 degrees, today down to 63 degrees. Will be in the 50's tomorrow, and then? In the 70's for a full 5 days at least! We're used to it. We know how the spring and fall are, the ups and downs. Wish it had been that way during the summer...and nice looong hot..hot..summer. Not nice though. Higher temps than usual. Man, it was way too hot. I'm enjoying Oct.
Hey motor..I had to take a closer look at your avvy..lol..thought it was a lollipop at first. :p Then, I see that it's a cool pumkin..did you do that?

I'm glad to hear you are healing!

Our kids are very good about washing their hands as soon as they come inside & again before eating. We even have "chicken shoes" by the back door. (Basically just old shoes to slip on before playing out back. They are never worn anywhere else. Likewise with some old coats in winter.) Because our DD is a big animal cuddler, we had to make a "No kissing chickens" rule.

So..... DS goes to religious ed & they were talking about the 10 commandments. The teacher asked for examples of some rules from home. Yep. Little DS proudly said, "No kissing chickens." The teacher was rather surprised & unsure how to respond.

I was embarrassed but also thankful he didn't say some of our other house rules.....
DH refuses to allow our flock to eat any leftovers from a chicken dinner, so the "No cannibalism" rule was created. It has turned into a family joke when some one says something like, "You're so cute I could just eat you all up!" Also our current dogs love to dig. We have a flower garden where previous pets have been buried, so we've had the "Don't dig up the dead" rule in place for several years now.

Sounds like a fun house!

It is off topic but it shocked me. I have heard of silly string being dangerous around candles.. What was he putting on that little girl's head? whip topping? shaving cream?
Not a very smart move
The young lady in your new avatar bears a striking resemblance to a younger version of Sally's daughter, Harmony Ann

You have the highly valued extremely rare four legged cow faced chickens?

How much are you selling them for?
