Weather man changed his mind again. We’re back in the mid 80’s all week.
Yard work is tops on list today.

Still a bit cold this morning tough.

No frost in a long time though! Great for Fall produce

Y'all are not going to believe this. I just spilled coffee on myself. And it wasn't down my shirt. It was more... ummmm. I spilled coffee on the couch between my legs. It wasn't hot, so you have permission to laugh.
The part you won't believe is that I didn't get up right away. If I'd spilled water, I would have gotten up right away, but it's coffee! So I sat here for several minutes before realizing that it would take forever for the couch to dry if I didn't soak up the coffee before it soaked in.
I think I have a problem.

No. But the fact that I didn't change until about an hour ago tells you how little it bothered me to ha... I can't finish that. It's funny, but not appropriate.

When I calculate my hatch rate do I count the infertile eggs? That was over 1/3rd of my problem.

I think it's a preference.

I look at fertility rate: number of eggs that started development / number of eggs set. Since yours was low, it might be time to do some chicken butt trims. (I have English orps with a lot of fluff & after some vent grooming, the fertility goes way up!)

I like to base my hatch rate only on the fertile eggs - so whatever egg-topsies showed the slightest development are counted. Number of chicks hatched / number of fertile eggs

The only time we can't shoot groundhogs is the week of deer gun season.

All the deer in OH & you only have 1 week of rifle? We have 2 weeks, including Sundays.

If you were to use my method you would find your hatch rate increase to around 245% or so... Respectable everywhere.

And a wedding yesterday.
(just put me outta my misery today, it'd be less painful)

So much chaos yesterday that the BBQ fest was postponed till today...
Time lapse photography time..

Farm Raised Pork Ribs started earlier today..

Big thick slab of pork belly. Or what them city folk call.. BACON.

Smoking in a Brinkman water pot smoker. All meat hand rubbed with plain jane sea salt & freshly ground black pepper corn.
These cookers are indirect heating with the contents of the pot lightly boils and steam hydrates the meat to help prevent drying it out. This particular Ribs & Bacon slab batch is being steamed with a watered down solution of apple cider and brown sugar. The sugar will caramelize the meat to help retain moisture as it adds a sweet taste to the ribs. Usually no BBQ sauce is needed. As well as the Bacon is on the top rack and naturally basting the ribs below it..
