EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

is it moving at all? so no internal pip? to be honest I never assist if they dont have internal because majority will croak if you pull up the head, are you sure it didnt external anywhere OTHER as a malposition?
None that I could see, but about 1/4 to 1/3 of the egg is cracked and covered in ducktape that I can't remove without also removing shell.

pretty sure malpo 2 is what I'm seeing.

I dont really assist but you can try if the others have hatched already, but most likely it will take first breaths and then croak after a while, but SOMETIMES they do live, but is this something you want to do, there is a reason it is malpositioned. I am cautious and never assist anymore unless its minor because of my opening the bator, I sell chicks and use them for breeding I want only the strongest best hatchlings....

OR it could just be slow since you have a multi hatch going on???

At some point, it has been in the egg too long...if the chick lives it will be weak and bad breeding stock...

You need to decide when is too long...no one else can...at that point carefully open and try to help chick..knowing the chances of it living is near zero...

You will gain knowledge that can be used on next chick like this one....when hatching eggs one never stops learning...making more correct guesses each batch..good luck on the duct tape egg!!!!

I don't think it's the multihatch, but maybe. I didn't change temps at all and air cell is correct size. I will double check veins. I won't be breeding this chicken so not really worried about that, dad just wants egg layers or soup pot roos. I'm a little nervous I'm jumping the gun, but the malpo has me jumping like a jellybean. If the veins are good, I'll leave it on the wet towel and see what happens. Ducktape - never again!

Thanks! Yes I always open my dead ones to try and learn the "why". You can always learn more! I've had this malpo twice before, but never with a tape covered egg! They usually pipped just fine wrong end for me. Gonna check veins and then go from their. Really if I could just get a little nose or noise I would feel so much better.
