EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Speaking of Colombia...
Our nephew lives in Colombia working as an English teacher. While there, he fell in love with a sweet girl there & they recently married. Her family rented a big beach house for the wedding & all their guests. (No we did not make the trip, but heard many fun stories.) It was a combo of luxury & extreme poverty. The remote house was less than $200 per night which is more than most make in a month. Because of the fear of pirates & kidnapping of tourists, the Colombian gov sent the military to the wedding. In the background of most of their wedding portraits stand armed men.

The wedding & dinner went well. Around 2 or 3am (long after the military left) a few guests were still partying on the beach. They were robbed of their jewelry & phones via a big machete. (Most of the family including the newlyweds were safe inside the house & locked inside their bedrooms.) The police were called but it's not like they could do much after the fact. Basically their guests' drinking, music, & flaunting of wealth was blamed for the robbery. My nephew has several other stories about simply getting to the wedding location. Like renting a car in a country where most people can't drive cars. Motorcycles are far more common & roads like we know them do not exist.

My nephew's quite the young adventurer. His job doesn't pay much, but it doesn't cost much to live there. Of course, being young & in love also has it's perks.
