EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

He showed up <5 min late; I was impressed. I wasn't really worried about it; another guy, who's responded to my ads in the past, was waiting in the wings in case #1 bailed on me. I told him I'll be hatching a new batch in the Spring, and would undoubtedly have extra cockerels to get rid of, so he might want to be on the lookout for my next ad.

I got tired of being stood up a long time ago. I'll wait on someone for an extra half hour; beyond that, if they haven't called, they're just plain lucky if I'm still around.

I asked anyone I was meeting to buy birds to text me when they were 20 minutes away from meeting point. Only when they texted did I put any birds in the car.
This also seemed to reduce the no show rate overall. Maybe giving them a time meant they needed to make an actual plan with a time line which made the transaction more real than if they were going to meet me at the house.

I've not tried that one; good idea

How's your pool league coming?
It's been fun. How's bowling going?

I left the Thursday night league for a Wednesday league where you get to shoot more often because there are no extra players that get shuffled into the lineup.
It is an in-house league so there is no traveling.
I started during last summer session. During summer it was 3 man teams, which was great because you were either shooting, just finished or getting ready to shoot.
My teammates and I were the 3 best players in the league so by the end of the season our handicap was really high. We won money for finishing in first place but by the playoffs, the handicap killed us. We won the first round but we had to give 7 games in the finals and we got killed so we didn't get the playoff money.

The guy running it does a good job of keeping the teams evenly matched. With more players in the fall it went to 4 man teams. He took the top 6 players and made them team captains, then puts the next 6 names in a hat for 3 rounds with captains pulling names.
By the last week of the season five of the six teams were tied. Had we won the last week we would have ended number one but we lost so we ended up out of the playoffs.

Sounds like you need a computer to keep track of everything :DHow's bowling? We had a very good 1st half; best ever, and we won it going away. The 2nd half has been horrendous; all 4 of us struggling. We're currently in 9th place out of 10. Personally, my average seems to be in a power dive to Hell. I can't seem to get untracked & stay that way 2 weeks in a row. The single bright spot in the 2nd half is that we won the 1st half, so will be in the roll-off for the overall title, assuming we don't win the 2nd half.

A computer would be helpful.
Ours is a Missouri 8-Ball rules league. So it isn't too confusing. The APA 8-Ball rules are way too confusing. Rather than keep track of each win/loss, they keep track of every shot.:he
Hang in there, sounds like you guys are doing quite well.
In pool it seems like we all click one season and nosedive the next. Up, down, up, down, and so on.
My son started playing in the league too. His team had a bad first season and they won it all the next. He won the final game of the season that put his team on top and won the last game of the playoffs.
He and his team are having a bad start to this season now. He just needs to get used to the fact that you can't win them all. It is nice playing with him every week. We usually practice together two or three times a week too.

Yep, Mama said there'd be days like this, but neglected to mention that they'd all come at once, However, this too shall pass. Need the bad times to appreciate the good.
