People get funny with their rules for hatching don't they?

The stuff you are dinged for is mostly related to keeping humidity up because of chicks getting stuck.

Then they will not get a good thermometer! Stuck chicks are more often caused by temperature not being controlled well. If the temperature is off, the chick will not absorb the yolk and liquid in the egg. They will stick no matter what the humidity is when that happens. Humidity will slow that down but not stop it
