EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Hey:frow
Question: My radial arm saw has no provision for catching sawdust, which just blows out through an elbow & coats everything with a layer of sawdust. It's an old Craftsman, & Sears says they don't use anything, but suggested I use one of the bags that fit chop saws. They don't fit, either; won't spread open enough. Lowe's doesn't have PVC to fit, either. I need something to slip over 1 9/16".
Any ideas? I can get a picture if it'd help.

A shopvac should fit, might not be tight, but should stay on a grab the dust when running.

Tried that, too, at Sears' suggestion. No luck...two different sizes. Even tried flexible tubing...drier vent hose. Only tried it with an old piece I had; don't know if it comes in different diameters.

I’ve hooked mine up to a vacuum. It wasn’t a tight fit either. Duct tape as I remember I’ll check when I get home.

BINGO!
You were right; one of those links gave me an idea. I went back to the dryer vent hose to see if I could come up with something.

This is what it looked like to begin with

The end was the same size as the neck I was trying to get it onto. So I broke out the hacksaw & cut it off, back to the beginning of the ribs, which are a tad larger, & ended up with

Necessity really is the mother of invention.
Thanks
