EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

I haven't been around in three or four years, I still recognize some names. I didn't post enough for you guys to remember me, but I enjoyed following everyone. I stopped hatching and everything to do with chickens for three or so years. Now I am back at the old family farm and ready to start back up. I am going to try to rehab an old shed in the back....it is 10' by 16'. It's sinking in the back and needs jacked up, the doors need replaced as well as about half of the front part of the floor. It doesn't have windows...the only good thing is the roof is not leaking. Wondering if I would be better off starting from scracth? Since the weather is so muddy and nasty, I have thought about hatching just for the fun of it. I hatched in my studio apartment (hence my name) a few times and the chicks were always easy to sell pretty quick. As for the chickens I would like to keep again, I've always had good luck with the buff orps. Now I just need to find someone to help me jack up this old barn! Kids these days balk at getting dirty :barnie
I remember you! Good to see you around again.

I work at t tire shop and a while back we had a guy looking for a front tire for his kubota.... turns out they used a non-standard size that was only available through them and they told the guy that if he changed the tire size it would mess up the differential because it was a four wheel drive.... so expensive tire only available through kubota. I am unsure on chains....ok so I lurk often just dont respond much
I've discovered that very sutuation; chains are coming from a Kubota dealer...no choice. :barnie

I guess that is one way to keep you coming back..... we just bought a Old Ford 801 with bucket.... ok so we bought it a few months back but our guy just got it running this week..... anywho we are starting to get excited about what we will be able to do with it!!

Well, I left the house about 6am this morning to go run through animals, feed some cubes and see how everyone was making out. Windchills below zero, heavy ice, very windy and a few inches of snow with light snow coming down. It amazes me at the people in little cars out in the country that can’t drive in this. Utterly irritates me to no end. Camaros and like out in BFE trying to get around. I did stop and pull out a grand am and a 2wd Chevy truck. The girl in the grand am was on her walk of shame after a night out. LMAO

Plus side is I’m gonna be able to move a bunch of round bales later and not make a bunch of ruts.

Those dumb little smart cars bug the heck out me and it’s not bad weather here. Somethings really wrong with a car that you can fit several in the truck bed and the owners are weaving in and out of semi trucks.
Still working on new coop. Making progress, if trees would stop falling I’d be quite a bit further along. Tomorrow is supposed to be another rain storm.

Tractors are awesome could not keep this place going without one. Plus I barter with neighbor so we both get benefits from it.

This is my 2nd one; 1st was an old Ford 9N__older than I am. I'd probably still have it if I'd left it with the 6v system it was designed for, but I let myself get talked into converting to 12v; never was right after that. Guy who did the conversion wasn't as good as he thought he was.

I’ve got a 1939 9N out in the barn. It’s kind of an ornament and been in the family for way longer than I can remember. It fires right up and run likes a top. Looks like hammered hell though.

Was never familiar with 6 volt systems. Which Kubota did you get?

I’ve changed front tires twice now on mine so far so good on all front end stuff. Was done through the local tire shop and seemed to be same size.

Lemme guess...light grey?
Ford reissued them a few years ago; premium price, limited quantity. Local dealer had one; sweet.
