The dog has gotten so used to being an indoor dog, he peed and ran back inside. Meanwhile, the birds were all as happy as can be. It’s funny to think the chicks are only nine weeks.

Ok so my enthusiasm for 2020 has expired... we had successfully hatched 9 turkeys on dec 28 and 29, woke up new years day to discover that DD had pulled the blanket up over the totem so the babies didnt get out, bad deal it cooked all but 3 of my freshly hatched babies:rant
We had 16 turkey eggs due today, woke up this morning to one hatched and 3 drowned in their shells... lost another one mid afternoon and discovered many died since lockdown. Still have 2 chicken eggs that are maybes and 3 turkeys talking in their shells... maybe next weeks hatch will go better?
Sorry. it hasn't gone any better for me except for God was gracious that my doe lived. One of my AI breedings I was so excited about that had live kids when she went into labor, ended with three born dead kids including a beautiful doeling :hit

I read a lot of posts about kidding issues and losses.
I haven't raised goats but a neighbor did and had a fairly large herd.
There are lots of goats in other countries that I've encountered. I don't remember the percentage of issues I read about now.
Does anyone have any ideas what the issues could be?

Everything. We feed differently, and baby them. The feed refers to vegetation and offered food.
The air quality and space are likely factors too. Bottom line, we have flashy Harleys, and they have Hondas.

mine had something to do with the labor though when I did go in we got them out pretty quickly. I just probably left her a longer than I should have with the labor or not moving to pushing contractions for some reason. we don't know if something happened early on or if the placenta detached or what happened because they were moving and very healthy and when I broke the water and went in the first one was presenting only the head, but it was after I gave calcium and she had only pushed maybe three times before I went to check positioning. it can be such a wide variety of things.

I have four more do this weekend three fancy AI breedings on Saturday. Lord willing it goes better. Of course there's this, look at this, stupid weather Saturday of all days.
