Not necessarily on day one but don't wait longer. During the first 10+ days of incubation, frequent turning is critical for good vigorous embryos.

Must be a different Ken; my place ain't that fancy
Good morning KenMust be a different Ken; my place ain't that fancy![]()
They're just up the road from me; dealt with them before ....a dozen BCM hatching eggs. Only had 4 of the 12 hatch, & 2 of them had leg problems, but I'm not sure the problems weren't the fault of the finicky temps in my Hov-a-bator.I've found a small hatchery that has ams with a focus on blue and black. Same with their bcms. It's Deer Run Farm. Their ams look right for the breed. The price bothers me, though. I know they aren't breeding SQ, but it still seems too low.
I might still order from them later on.They're just up the road from me; dealt with them before ....a dozen BCM hatching eggs. Only had 4 of the 12 hatch, & 2 of them had leg problems, but I'm not sure the problems weren't the fault of the finicky temps in my Hov-a-bator.
OK. Because I read somewhere on here that if it wasn't Styrofoam, then the heat wouldn't circulate around the egg evenly and hatch rates would go down.Use cardboard, Dixi cups, maybe even a nest of foil.
