The quail are drinking more, so I added a second waterer. The new one is a mason jar, and the quail were attacking the jar as the water went down. So funny!
I cannot find the eggs!
Any guesses from y’all?Very possible on both counts; certainly not uncommon.Snake?
I've had hens steal eggs from one nest to take to theirs.
My hens slow down when one goes broody. Drives me nuts.I cannot find the eggs!
Started with 7/day, but eggs dropped to 2/day. I collected myself, and found a broody. She had four eggs (should have had a dozen). She didn’t return to the nest yesterday, and I found four eggs. Today she was back, and I had two eggs after moving her.
I don’t free range, and I checked the bedding. I sifted through the nests, and I don’t see shells or yolk.Any guesses from y’all?
He lives!!
I have two in there that the neighbors' hens laid in my yard. No telling what those will turn out to look like if they hatch. I couldn't even begin to tell you what laid them. Gimpy is a PR, but I'm not convinced she laid the brown egg. A couple RSL come over along with a splash hen, some random black hen, and some bearded, muffed, and crested hen. There's also a black EE that roosts in a tree in the fence line. The only rooster that I can ID is a brown Leghorn.
