When it’s really hot here 104, the broody has taken extended breaks. Her eggs due around the 31 as well. She’s been letting me take the added eggs away every day so far. 8 eggs left of 9.A storm came through last night. We had a power outage about 10:30 PM and lasted an hour and 13 minutes. My govee temperature/humidity sensor tracks by the minute and in that time, the temperature in my old style Sportsman cabinet went from 99.9 to 94.3 before it started climbing when the power came back on. It was under 99 for about an hour. It would have been worse in winter but it is about 85 in that room now. I'm sure they're fine. In that length of time the internal egg temperature wouldn't have dropped much. Probably like a hen getting off the nest for a half hour.
I( have 3 roughly the same size. They were outgrowing the old Broward brooder, so I turned them out into a run with a young pullet . The coop's 3 ft off the ground, which slopes away, necessitating a fairly long ramp. They get down fine, probably by flying; haven't figured out how to get back in yet. They've been out there 3 days now, & I have to scoop them up to put them away every night so far.I imagine they could negotiate the ramp just fine if they wanted to, but are likely enjoying my ever-broadening vocabulary.Overdue pics of some of my babies.

600,000 gallons/day? More than 2,000,000 liters/day?? You are using an Olympic swimming pool of water every day!.....and who will pay it?I have a rant. Excuse me for that.
The water company replaced my water meter back in February. About a week ago I started hearing water flowing in the incoming line in the house but I couldn't find anywhere the water was going. Finally I called the water company. It turns out I was using up to 600,000 gallons a day since March. But I wasn't using it. It was running down the hill to Coldwater Creek and then to the Mississippi River.
The meter installer didn't tighten the fitting on my side of the meter.
If it was my water district I would have to pay. Probably why they require owners to install. The meter was 20k and I don’t own the meter for that. I get the privilege of having their water for that fee. The bill for 600,000 gallons would sink me.600,000 gallons/day? More than 2,000,000 liters/day?? I have to feed them in the second run that the coop's attached to, to get them to go to bed. Some of them are perfectly fine going to bed when the pigs do but the rest expect their bedtime snack. Geeze, I'm glad you don't have to pay for that. That's insane! Here I thought the 20 or so gallons we lost a few weeks ago when the faucet for the hose broke was going to give me a heart attack. I had to run and turn the pump off before it emptied the tank.I have a rant. Excuse me for that.
