Does Israel have an open border policy? Can anyone immigrate there?
Not at all.
Israel was founded after the holocaust in WW2 as the country of the Jewish people, and it is a Jewish and democratic state.
It means that every Jewish in the world has the right to come to Israel and be automatically a citizen. But now there is a new question, who decide who is a Jew and according to what definition? And that is a HUGE question that deserves a completely different discussion....

It is a rare country that allows people to freely immigrate. In fact, I don't know of one. Perhaps there is a special territory of Norway with open borders.
Most countries have very strict rules for immigration. Some allow none.
Most of my life, Common Market countries had open borders between them and other common market countries. They would never allow a US citizen to live and work there without severe restrictions but an Aussie or Kiwi could freely move to Europe to live and work.

When I was much younger, I knew a young Jewish lady here who decided to move to Israel. She freely joined the Israeli military and served a couple years before returning to the US>

Indeed we have a lot of Jewish people that came got citizenship, served in the army and tried their luck elsewhere.
Here we have people from a lot of origins and country. From west and east Europe , North Africa, Asia, Ethiopia,US,Australia ECT.
And we have a lot of mixed couple like us. I was born in Lybia my dear wife in Ukraine.

Ok so I consider you are all my friends and I know this is a family friendly site.
But I want to share this. This is a brit who really doesn't like women artists.
He is reacting to Janis Joplin and changes his mind.
