Hello everyone,
I have a quick question for you. I am trying to figure out approx what day/age this embryo i.
It is the only egg in my incubator,so unfortunately I don't have any others to compare it to.
After looking through the egg candling pic through progression it seems to me it may be around 12 days-13days.
Does anyone agree or disagree?

Before you ask, no I am a dufus, and have no idea when I put it in. I will say that it is from my favorite hen we lost awhile back, and then I realized I had some of her eggs in my fridge for about 2-3 weeks. So if it hatches we will name it Fridge.

Thanks for those root cellar ideas Sally!
We have a cellar, but a furnace in it that blows the heat from our outside wood boiler, so not cool enough with the duct work I don't think. Thought about insulating a small room in the corner but building materials aren't cheap. We get mice sometimes rats in the cellar so it'd have to be sealed. Thought about 55gal plastic barrels on their sides in framework with hinged openings. Right now we keep everything in a spare unheated room that used to be a attached garage but sometimes when it's super cold stuff freezes, not good. Lost two five gallon crocks of pickles last yr INSIDE a refrigerator, didn't think they'd freeze in it, didn't look very appetizing after they thawed.
Love that freezer root cellar idea. People throw away big old freezers, going to have to keep a look out. Put a couple big one's down in our cellar for root vegis and such might be perfect, no building, no $, and easy!

yeppers they are all over CL and if you ASK in the GENERAL for sale section for old broken freezers you will get some emails! Would be cool to put one in see how one works cause you can always add another and another and well you get it lol

Hey y'all! How's everybody be?? I've been busy with the farm and thus...haven't had time to join.

And that'll teach me to put work before play!!! I cannot keep up with y'all! So cool how everyone here gets along so awesomely. I just love it. And even though I'm seldom here,I feel like I can jump right in at any time and be welcomed!

My Brownie hen is doing an amazing job at mothering 7 chicks!! Omgosh is she a riot if any other chicken comes near those babies!!! They even think about it and she Kung fu karate chops their face! Lol She doesn't hurt them but she definitely makes her point.

I have yet to discover her breed. Didn't get too many ideas from everyone on what they thought she might be. I'm totally naive to chicken breeds. I know a few but not like y'all do! Anyone wanna try again to shed some light on her mysterious ethnicity??
