Why are roofers so odd?

I know a lot of roofers and I've worked with them occasionally on difficult projects.
They're odd because it is hard, scary, low paying work. Then there is the tar inhalation, extreme heat and extreme cold.
I've put roofs on 6 of my houses. One of my best friends has owned a small roofing company for almost 30 years. I've helped him on 5 commercial buildings in the city and some scary steep roofs.
When stuff gets too scary, jobs he used to do himself, he calls in the SAs. (Spanish Americans)
My sister and her husband had a roofing company for a while. Roofers are known for being hard workers but not reliable.
Both they and my friend always had backup people they could call in case their main crew didn't show up.

My current view from my deck...the girls are now searching for clues as to what got the rooster.

(The old privacy fence you see just past my daughter's clubhouse is just a divider I have between yards, it is not meant to be predator proof lol).

That's a really nice pond. Does it have natural water inlet or do you like we need to keep it filling with an outside source

when my home was being built the contractor was very careful with tools in his truck, I saw him double check the locks when the roofers were here.

When I go into subdivisions which is every day for work the truck is always locked. I don't carry tools anymore they are not needed for the work I do it's just habit to lock up.

opinion : Salary is so low that they can't afford tools or food. My first job after high school I worked with low paid carpenters who found out I was going fishing, one guy ask me for the fish heads for soup for his family.

When my brother and bil were fishing at a lake nearby they were catch and releasing the fish. Finally a fisherman nearby came over and said mister if you are going to keep throwing away lunch would you at least give them to us.

Duckling threw the spider at me when I walked into the room this morning.

I had to hide my face to keep from laughing.

Especially as they sang Amazing Grace followed by the Star Spangled Banner. Lol

Those girls sound like a riot! :lau

No.  Had to put it on the back burner; concentrating on getting this dumb shed built. Sure wish I had some structural engineering training.

Aw, phooey.

"you can't push a rope" is what I remember  :old

Yes you can... If you coat it in glue first and let it dry!
