I miss having such tiny little babies.... It's so addicting.....

Four muscovies! (One was dead.)

And the bator! I candled and they all still seem alive. I think one was iffy. Also all internally pipped, and some externals you can't see. They're ice cold so hoping they can warm up and make it.

Man, it sure is nice having the roof finished. Now I can work out there without having to check for wet spots whenever I walk in. I nailed a big tarp across the opening where the big door's going, to keep out the wind, rain & snow 'til I can get the double doors made & up.This morning I cut a piece for the bottom 3' of the people door & got the 1st coat of paint on it. I wasn't planning a dutch door, I had a piece of 1/2 that will work, so dutch door it is. Actually, it'll work out nice; I can leave the top half open in hot weather for some cooling. I'll be adding 2x4 cross-bucks to all the doors for rigidity. I'm anxious to get it up & functional so the chickens will stop thinking it's their personal latrine.

Do you realize you can't buy regular 1/2" plywood anymore? The closest you can get is 15/32", and they want 2 arms, a leg, & your first born child for it. I said "screw that" & bought 3 sheets of OSB & a 1/2 gal. of flat white exterior paint. That should do the job 'til I move to the other side of the grass.
