morning all, got up just a bit ago, got my 1st cup of mud, went to do my normal morning thing walked by the bator had to walk back and look again little one made an early arrival, pictures to come

My 2-3 am adventures:

I candled and only these three had any signs of life. The partially open one hadn't made any progress since 10 pm so I picked away a bit more shell.

I watched it struggle for a while; it was pushing, not turning. So I broke the cap and made sure it wasn't stuck, then put it back. Possible malpo?

Slowly pushed itself all the way free, clearly ready to be hatched. I had to move the yellow one to the brooder because it was going for the hatchling's eye and I didn't want any damage.

Almost 11 years, I'm used to it. I put the cat out so he didn't harass the ducklings. DH can't stand seeing poor old Chuck sitting outside when it's a frigid mid-60s outside. He was asking if Chuck could come in.

nope, been reading some other useful materials, how to raise kids and not lock them in a kennel, and ya know that sorta stuff....

I say just lock them all up....

Unfortunately. I thought I took care of it - had my uncle shop vac the air filter while I was at his house last weekend. But last night I saw it go right back in there when I went out to close the chicken coop.
