You said it. I got out of practice - trying to come back, but can't keep up any more.
X 100,000,000!!!!And a very special Hello to Our most precious and prized possession @Sally Sunshine
I just have to admit to myself that I'm avoiding digging holes for planting the apple trees. But if I don't do it, it won't get done. And it's gotta get done. NOW. Soooooo... (sigh) I guess I should go out and start digging.![]()
Sorry for not quoting separately, but hugs to everyone! And congrats to everyone with babies (and catfish
)![]()

Off to dig. I may be back if my shoulder starts acting up (maybe then I can hang out with the Busted Wing Gang then...)

Sometimes Pip to zip can be 24 hours or more. You're not see any blood or yolk or anything like that?I have chicks hatching right now![]()
The first hatched early hours of this morning, it's perfectly healthy. The second chick hatched about an hour ago, but it has a bloody navel.
There is also a small piece of egg shell stuck to the umbilical. Its toes look slightly crooked, if they don't straighten out I'll make shoes for it.
I also have this egg, which pipped at the same time as the first chick (around 8pm last night) but hasn't made any progress. It keeps pecking at the same spot, but isn't turning around to zip. It's pipped at the wrong end, and this morning I removed some of the shell around the pip in hopes it would do the rest itself. It didn't, so a few hours later I removed some more.
Any tips/suggestions?![]()
