We have had this problem for Yesrs!! Now almost 60% of our water come from Desalination plants! YOU DON'T HAVE A CHOICE !
The Ogallala Aquifer is diapering! And that will have a tremendous effect on you!

EDIT to add, sorry about the pasty bum, I keep it at least 100 in one corner of the brooder for all my chicks and they have plenty of space to get out of the heat should they need to, and definitely check butts daily with the littles, that uptilted bum can really hold poo during the first week or two.
