raccoons?

I just had the trash company replace our can cause their truck with the automatic jaws that grab the can poked a big hole in the front. Raccoons were going in to feast every night.
That may have saved a chicken or two.

It has only just recently started happening, I've been throwing trash out there in the truck for about two years, and have never so much as had a tear in a bag. The last two weeks, trash torn out and strewn all over the back of the truck.

I have a big mess to clean out when I go to the dump this weekend. I saw the cat jump out of my truck a couple nights ago and then this morning one jumped out.

When you lose a bird and have others with the same symptoms, it is time to quit guessing and get some lab work so you know how to treat or even if it is something treatable. You have poultry labs all over the state. Send the bird for a necropsy, histopathology and lab tests to save the rest if possible.

Okay thanks so much for the info, the last one died a few weeks ago and none of the others had symptoms at the time. As for this one that's still alive...have any thoughts?

​Yes it does. Ive been fighting it the last 2 days to get the humidity down. Placed a sock with rice in it last night and a dry cloth in the bottom (After I wiped away all the obvious moisture), its still hanging out at 55-60%!

If it has an automatic humidifier can you turn that off. Or remove any water you have in it. Is the Moisture in the room that high?

If it's like my Janoel or my Janoel knockoff, it just has a humidity sensor.

I must be missing something here. I'm just going to sit here quietly and see what the rest of you come up with. :/

It has channels for the water and a humidity sensor that you can set to go off at whatever % you want it to go off at. The only options for controlling humidity are to run dry, run with one or more channels filled, or add a sponge, cup, whatever. It's not like my RCOM where you "set" the humidity and just keep filling the reservoir. Does that make sense?

Hey y'all, I have a pretty sick chicken that I'm determined to save, we just lost another to the same symptoms and I want to figure this out before we lose any more. Already started a couple threads but I was told to ask the questions here so I'll just post the links.
If y'all know anything about Tylan 50 med interactions, praziquantel, or something I'm missing out of all of this please let me know. I'm not sure she has much longer.

A vet would be best, but I know they're not always an option. That said, I just looked in Plumb's Veterinary Drug Handbook and it appears the two drugs, tylosin and praziquantel, are okay to use together.

Tylan 50 will only treat a narrow range of bacteria, like mycoplasma, it will not treat E. coli or pseudomonas, which are very common in birds with respiratory infections. Tylan also needs to be given more than once a day, so it's possible she is being under-medicated.

All sick birds will be dehydrated, and they usually lose a little weigh each day. If she were mine I would have her in a warm room and I would tube fluids, then food if she wasn't making daily weight gains, and I can teach you how to tube if you want. I'd probably also start her on Baytril (enrofloxacin), but Baytril is banned for use in poultry, so that's something to consider.
