so...with our decreasing daylight, do you expect them to begin to lay before February?

I have eleven Australorp with only two laying, the others might delay until late March

I give light all year long! From 18:00-23:00 every day, I use LED lump so for 5 W I get the equivalent of 60W I have 7 layer and I get standard of 6 eggs /day even now!

You said they were smaller than the pekin? My guess would be welsh harlequin or something along those lines.
