EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Yeah, ok, you've got me here. Though I'm such a wuss about the cold now that 50 degrees feels like freezing... :th

We almost always get our first freeze over Thanksgiving (although it doesn't stay cold). I wonder what this year will look like...

50 here in the fall feels coold! Then it gets colder... 50 in the spring, t-shirt and shorts and sweating. ..
:-D

@Sally Sunshine

So I started reintroducing the ducklings and their mom to the flock last Friday, I moved them where they'd be pretty much side by side 24/7 And by Tuesday they seemed to be getting along fairly well so I let them into the flock during free ranging time and speperated them at night, well they have integrated pretty well, the only ones who still chase them are the three swedes and that's only half heartedly but today I noticed King Leon ( the mallard) chased off the swedes everytime they got near the ducklings or their mom. Anyway tonight they are spending the night with the main flock. :fl :fl

I was thinking of it before I even knew that they were strays. I don't like duck meat much, but I don't want that many ducks. No sense worrying about biosecurity at this point. :fl

I never cut down on my duck population at a yummy tender age like I do chickens now, more like culling old chickens which I usually pressure cook. Just liked the ducks too much, was always more dang I have too many have to get rid of some...
Grind them, they don't taste like chicken anyway, more like beef, duck burgers on the grill are yummy!
:-D

That's cool, I have never thought of ground duck and making it into duck burgers. I would assume it would turn out really good and juicy since duck has a lot more fat then chicken does. Thanks for the tip...no clue how I haven't run into that idea before.

:frow
Picked up some brew tonight at the brewery while getting the grain. It's called Abbey.

An Abbey ale? Belgian style?
Super yummy if your not a Coors light fan :-D more like a fine wine.
Trappist style, those monks sure do know how to make a great beer :)
Have a awesome one near me by the national baseball hall of fame, brewery Ommegang. What brewery did you visit? I know and have tried just about them all, have a awesome distributor near me that relishes in the small local regional brews around the country.

Just chanced upon it myself, with some shoe leather tough one's, figured why not. And yup, I think the fat content helps with duck burgers.
