Quote: Sally IMO the color in ACV is dependent on the skin color of the apple or from colors (caramel?) Add to it. I decide if it is ready by testing its PH. When its 2-2.5 it is ready.

Yeah I'm ok. Pain and frustration but had a great time at the chicken show! Brought home a few "interesting"things...Hubby said when he unloaded them "Hey why do those curly ducks look so different?"

no-I had a long weekend and been sorting seramas and hatching chicks all day & getting the newbies all set. But I ended up with a pair of swedish flowers, 6 seramas, 4 indian runner duck and 2 sebbies-a white girl and a buff/saddleback boy. Love them to pieces and got a great deal on them from a very good breeder. Still new predator problem. think its a hawk or owl-so far a runner and 2 guineas and not just at night-think the guineas was during the day today. not quite sure what to do about that problem....You're property?![]()

Buster Brown made it up the mountain yet?
@Sally Sunshine
TJ egg update.
So it is day 22/23. Bator is at 99- 99.5 so not really cold.
2 chicks out and one pipped.
It seems like these guys need the extra time.
Chicks are yellow and single combed but have a wide comb area (almost thought they were pea combed -suspect they are hetero) and they look like they will be crested![]()
Clean white (not yellow I think) legs.
So mom is likely leghorn but dad could be anything. Oh well at least it is not Silkie!
The ayam cemani hatched just fine -in fact early with same temp setting.
I reluctantly put the bator temp up to 100.5 (checked with clinical Mercury thermometer).
Reluctantly as I have 3 dozen new eggs in there and don't want to cook them, but really not sure it is the right thing to do. Thinking that I may put it back down to 99.5 when I get home from work.
Quote: You did bring a nice collection home. Sorry about the predator problem.
Quote: I have an overabundance of deer too.
