Quote: Im assuming if they can draw heat laying on roost it can keep them warm no? if free of drafts? what do I know I could put above the roost I guess? I have a heat pad on low in Sammy the conure cage and its L shaped with a hand towel over it, he lays on it and up against it where it folds upright. he didnt hesitate to hang out in his new warm spots let me tell you, was there in less than a minute
Would it heat properly from above the roost, since heat rises?
my thinking is as it heats up directly under them they can trap in feathering and let go of what they dont need????? dumbthinking?
Not necessarily. I've been catching bits & pieces of the conversation (actually trying to get some work done on the shed in-between coffee breaks), so I may have missed something.
its ok we let you slide for just a bit

Who said anything about tying up dogs? That's why God invented kennels, some of which you already have, if you don't have them slam full of birds!
now you sound like someone else here, stop that!!!!

agree completely

Sally here's what I've been thinking of trying. I really don't think it will get too warm in the winter. Sorry the picture is from my mind not a computer so it's very rudimentary or simply put simple. Not to scale
400

Roost length to the size you need just don't nail the wires. I'm going to see if I can get something like it built this weekend. To see what it does temp wise
