EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

I bought an incubator! I can't wait to start it up and do a test hatch. Is that ok to do? I mean I don't really need the chicks but if we get some that would be ok. Should I start with a fill up of the incubator or start with a few only? I bought another digital therm/hygro meters seperate from the machines. Should I start with the Machines readings and hope it is accurate, or do both? Or just use the one that I bought, though I am not sure if that one is more accurate or not.

The incubator I purchased is:

Farm Innovators Digital Circulated Air Incubator with Egg Turner (4250)

Helps hatch chicken, quail, or goose eggs

The Farm Innovators Digital Circulated Air Incubator is easy to use and can accommodate up to 41 eggs. The Incutek heater warms to a factory pre-set temperature of 100° F within minutes. A digital display shows temperature, humidity, and days to hatch (days-to-hatch countdown timer is adjustable for a variety of eggs). The automatic egg turner turns the eggs completely every four hours to eliminate manual handling and improve hatch rate. The high/low temperature notification light flashes when temperature is below 97 degree Fahrenheit or above 103 degree Fahrenheit. A large picture window provides a 360° unobstructed view inside the incubator, great for educational observation. The deep bottom tray accommodates even large duck and goose eggs.
  • Durable hard plastic outer shell protects incubator and is easy to clean.
  • Helps hatch chicken, quail, duck, goose and other eggs.
  • An integrated fan pulls in and circulates fresh air to stabilize temperature and improve hatch.
  • Automatic egg turner turns the eggs completely every four hours.
  • Great for hobbyists and for educational purposes.
  • Made with recycled insulating polystyrene foam.
  • 120 volts, 40 watts, 0.33 amps.

Welcome back!! Me, I'd start with just a few. Never ever rely on machine temp readouts, calibrate the others and put them in. Good luck!!

You REALLY need to calibrate (temperature and humidity) first. The info at the beginning of the thread (or is it now the beginning of the Incubating with Friends Thread?) has all that key info. I wouldn't put any eggs in there until you have it holding steady temperatures and are confident of your humidity measurements.

400

Uncle Jeremy with his little nephew Carson..... 10 pounds and 23 inches.

He goes home tomorrow.
How many hatch days?

I think that they will rot in this condition too.......

Benny what's up with the fires I'm reading about over there.

We have some freakish whether, very strong east winds no rain, and very low humidity, and this stinking arab terrorists lit on purpose tausenns of fire, a big property damage but thank God no human casualties.

All done - that was easy! Too bad the rest of the vine dried ones are about 20 feet up hanging in other trees... (That's what happens when you let a volunteer vine go nuts...) - Ant Farm
That looks cool, is it like a scrubber? What type of vine was that again? Sorry I fell asleep in my chair.
