Everyone here is welcome!
Here is our glimpse of the ocean from the house. The sea fog has not burnt off yet but it will be a beautiful day:

Hatch update:

Looks like the TJ eggs have done hatching. Over a dozen out from 3 dozen eggs set. Not too bad for old, washed and chilled eggs.


Of the second set there are 10 out - not sure yet what but some look like Swedish black hens and there is a male cream Legbar. Still some eggs to go.

Congrats but you know we need pics right?

Well these are the "early hatchers" - the late hatchers are in the trays above. Most here are the white TJ chicks.
Will take more pics tonight when they get moved to the brooder.
Need to high-tail it to work...

Hi, just wondering how does everyone store the styrofoam incubators in the off season? I'm afraid that if i put them out in the shop or in one of the outbuildings that the rats (we get those cute little brown rats that are just a big bigger than mice, but so annoying!) will chew holes in them, so they're in the house right now. They take up a lot of room, so i'd like to get them out of here. Any ideas?

Put it in a small metal trashcan, or even a plastic tote might work.

put dryer sheets around it in the box, but not in the incubator
