I didn't learn, but it is on my list for this winter. I will practice this spring on a short hike.
I don't know how much communication will be available. I have decided that I am basically going to do several overnight trips with maybe a two night trip. That way I can go several places in the park. Then the last two days I am going to do the major thermal features like Old Faithful and the paintpots.

Yes, thank you. I just need some practical experience before I go. I am going to try to get an experienced hiker to teach me that and other basics hands on.
That and the trail marking system they use in Yellowstone. I know it is spread out.
