(Maybe Monday. I hope not)
YAY!!!

Hi everyone. My wonderful darling husband who's favorite question to me these days is " So how many chickens do you plan on having when all is said and done?" presented me with an early Christmas gift of a Brinsea Mini Eco incubator. Yep, he's a great guy.

I'm not planning to break it in till March when I plant to incubate 7 or 8 of my Buff O/Welsummer eggs to give to an Amish neighbor who gave me 8 eggs in September to stick under my broody hen some pullets and a cockerel or two. His flock is mainly OEGB and bantam Cochin crosses. He needs meat birds so I plan to give him a start of birds that will provide his family with meat and eggs.

So I have been hanging around reading the great information about incubating (so much great information to absorb. I think my brains hurt from all of it) and plan to drop in from time to time if y'all don't mind.
Welcome @microchick How on earth can you NOT break that bator in until March!

@runt325 Here is a picture of about a ten dollar container of the stuff discussed in the thread I mentioned. Casportpony said it was right. In case your DE doesn't work.
@daxigait , thank you for mentioning that thread earlier (caught it on my read back) and posting this picture - I think you saved me a lot of hassle, cost, and potential respiratory issues!

I don't have mites now, but to be prepared I had on my list to get the poultry dust at the feed store. Crossed that out and added this instead.

Quote: I'd vote for that!

I did a read back last night, but was a little tired and didn't manage to get the quotes and post - but hugs to all who need them, good luck to the new hatchers (you're in the right place), congrats on the deposits, Dax, I hope mel and pens feel better soon, and Sally - cute puppies. MC, I hope you are successful at losing the tape and scissors the next time you try to wrap!

I'm sure I've forgotten lots of important stuff - my apologies.

Moving a little slow this AM - a little headachy (nothing to justify complaint, just enough to keep me from popping up and moving around quickly). Nursing my coffee in the hopes it gets better before I need to head out for work.

We were supposed to have our first freeze last night, but it never materialized - only got down to 35F per my Dark Sky app (may have been even a little warmer than that near the house this AM) - so all that effort moving plants and covering the lettuce was unnecessary.

Alas, we get this a lot - I wouldn't be surprised if the grocery store is really low on toilet paper milk and bread.

All that said, I'm not complaining, easier on the garden.

OK, I have to work, headache or not, so gotta run. Later!

I just put it in my sprayer. It was much easier then dipping or dusting.
Have a great day.
