Words cannot express how much I appreciate the kind words and support I've received from everyone today. It's been a rough day here for us. We have 5 cats and had 5 dogs. Bunny came into my life two years before I met my husband and was a gift from one of my nurses aides after the death of my mini schnauzer. She was only 5 weeks old and had waddled over to me, climbed into my lap and went to sleep. She could hardly walk, she was so little. We knew she was getting up there in age, knew she had old kidneys but her health had been stable lately and she had been running around the pasture with the other dogs just yesterday afternoon. We weren't expecting what happen and it completely blindsided us.

Our 4 remaining furry canine children are grieving, especially our 9 yr old Australian cattle dog who was her best friend and our 3 year old hound mix who was always arguing with her. We are trying to keep them busy and give them lots of love.

I knew you all would understand.

Just noticed this edit to hatching 101. I've been using paper egg cartons as turners... What should I be using instead?

Wonder if this is what happened to my last hatch. Many DIS well developed.
Actually I usd them for lockdown

Oh, so during my chicken chores, I went to the Frat House Coop to investigate possible humidity sources for Monkey's comb frostbite. I looked under the waterer, and although there was a dry layer of shavings, when I shifted them with my foot, ALL of the bedding underneath (several inches down to ground) was soaked. Apparently the waterer was leaking or, more likely, the boys kept knocking it around and spilling it. So, I stirred and spread out the wet bedding, added lots of dry on top, and moved the waterer outside. Mystery solved.

(As you can see below, she wasn't exactly ladylike in her sleeping positions...) I'll try them next time. They can be sterilized as well. Much better

What type are they? It is hard for me to tell from that view.

@ChickenCanoe. I knew it was a bad idea to try quarantine with the weather about to change. I don't know if he stuck his waddles in the little one quart screw in waterer or what, but they're swollen. I feel horrible. I may just need to risk putting him with the others. I don't have any other way to get him thawed water. Is there a way I can treat his waddles?

awe, poor guy! I would coat his wattles with Vaseline. Other than that, I don't know what else to suggest.
