Speaking of plants what's the best plants for extra protein for the chickens. Long keeping abilities for winter feed back a plus. I have winter squash and pumpkins but looking for a larger variety.

I have been thinking about Hubbard Squash and Mammoth pumpkins for them.

They do like the Hubbard Squash preferred over other varieties. Definitely one that I plant. Also looking at Comfrey and Jerusalem artichokes. They've eaten the Jerusalem artichokes before not sure on Comfrey yet

Comfrey is great for goats.
