Quote: LOL he's like a thousand times cleaner than normal. It's just crowded right now. The cochins are sleeping in the nest boxes.
But ducks should have a new house by the weekend, then cochins, silkie, and silkie mixes can go to the tractor. Once I get the honas in their pen and the HRIR in theirs, he'll have plenty of room to stay clean.
Also, hiccup in my OE plan. I got an egg from Mavis yesterday and it's not the color I remembered/expected. It's pinkish. Think I'll still get good color with that OE marans roo? Top left egg.
if he is marans oe should do good, what gen is he do you know?
yes like four @TJChickens
I need help with these serama roos!!! dang littles since I got the tiny roos I cant get many fertile eggs!!!
I also pulled the polish eggs, I think the ones remaining are from Mikes icelandics but hatch will tell me
I think that polish roo is a dud too!!! sara said she had issues with fertility too, so I dont know what to do about him, I guess buy a new roo uggggg which I cant afford!!!
Gotta get boys that are the same size as the girls, that way he can reach everything he needs to. I'm sure @meltel Would send you some boys.
Does your Polish boy need a trim or anything?
This is my big Tom - we are still working on the "hug your turkey" thing. He likes me, they chase me around like a dog, just WAITING for food... but hugging is asking a bit much from them! LOL
This is my alpha EE roo - Thing #1. Thing #2, has been hiding out with my cochin rooster and his girls, because Biter allows him to hang out with his flock with out beating him up. If thing #2 looks at the girls wrong, my RIR hen, beats the crap out of him, because her and Biter are tight and she won't allow anyone to disrespect my little bantam Roo.
Mr. Silly is working on weaning. But he sure is a friendly little guy! I'm so glad we let him nurse off mom - but made him sleep in the house and hand-raised him with daily contact. He's such a little munchkin. And he likes hugs.
You should join us in turkey talk, There are people there that know how to turn a turkey into a lapper. Even JJ my huge tom tolerates being held. I can pick him up at any time. When company comes he likes to be held so he can meet the people that are visiting.
When I had my NPIP inspection last year, the Lady Vet from the USDA became the object of his affections. After his blood rest instead of leaving the barn like the rest the turkeys, he followed her around. Doing the self gratification thing turkeys do by her feet all day long. There were 3 vets here 2 were women, but he onlu fell in love with the one. I felt sorry for her though besides having to step around JJ all day her co-workers were merciless in their ribbing of her over her new boyfriend.
I offered to lock him up but they all said no as they thought JJ was too funny and wanted him around.
Do be careful with the little ones though, I do not let my Grandkids pet JJ unless I am there, he is just too big for them and I never trust any make farm animal.
What's your current "go to" treatment for round worms; something OTC that can be added to the water, since I have no idea which of the 10 is affected, & I can't catch them w/o stressing them.
