Critters update:
Zippy seems to be eating more, thank goodness. I don't want to force feed him too....

Chrissy has lost some more weight, not sure how much as she won't sit still to be weighed. It's just what I can tell from how her keel feels. But, she ate a small bowl full of food overnight, and was going to town on bowl #3 when I left her this morning.
And, she's standing nicely on her one web.

Maple has several blisters on each foot, but she is still perky and drags herself to food and water.

Torvi hasn't pasted up again.

you need to up their protein, can you get turkey starter or something? maybe try tuna again?

Yeah, that was the other thing I was thinking... Is fertility a predictable issue when it's really cold? Or dark? 

Not at all.

I use artificial lights from the 20th of November on, It still is just a guessing game.

I do a little better on the birds I keep inside but it is a hard thing to do and even then it is not good.

I give my hens all year long artificial light! They get light till 23:30 every day.this benefits them in severl way.
1. Reducing their stress in winter.
2. Make them molt in a very lightly = they dont loos more then 10%
3. They lay all year long!
And yes the Endocrin (=hormonal) system is HUGELY influenced from the photoperioa =the light length in a 24 hour so it is more then sure that the fertility of your roos is influenced from it!

eggs really dont have much protein about 12%
