Maybe you should go by an auto parts store, or maybe WallyWorld, & grab a dc/ac converter to plug into the cigarette lighter in the jitney. Cheaper than a generator or UPS.

Was about ready to head over to the parents house when the power came on. Good idea

Open your eyes. That is the cellar. Though as dark as it is, I see the confusion.

Looks pretty sunny to me. I don't remember a fridge or a beanbag being in the root cellar either.

Probably not completely bare I'll have to take another look after I turn the lights back on in there. Some may have bow tie but I was thinking some would be completely feathered.

Of the four eggs the wife kept warm during the outage all four hatched. Three within the hour after the power came back on and the other this morning. two day hatch from start to finish

20 of 25 hatched.

Goodnight all! I gotta go crash. Not looking forward to the morning - I was told at a doctor appt that I'm drinking too much coffee and that's probably why my headaches had gotten worse. I can still drink it, just not as much. This is going to hurt...

They sure are last year when I was setting turkey eggs, because of my foolproof marking system, and because a couple of the Toad eggs had spots. I put them in with the turkey eggs...
I went to check Humidity and temps on them at 21 days and I heard chicks inside the incubator. Two had hatched and fell to the floor of the incubator...Silly Birds.
I was really baffled at first thinking there is no way a turkey hatched a week early....Then I saw them.
I really should not mark both turkey eggs and Toad eggs with just a T.

Hey, I forgot to tell you all,,,and Chaos will be so proud of me...

I made 30-40 bunnies homeless yesterday.. I burnt the brush pile they were living in.. It felt like quite an accomplishment to me!

Ok, question..... it may sound dumb but I'm seeing a pattern. I have a new red rooster with my favorite hen. I've been incubating the eggs I get from her with other eggs and although I don't get many eggs from her cause it's winter. Each time it comes to hatching date they die right before. Or they don't grow at all. Could he just put off weak offspring or something??

I live in Texas where it's mostly warmer climate. The other hens eggs are with a different rooster and they are hatching great! Just not the hen with the new rooster

breeder nutrition could be a big part of it, as well as age of the birds, are these eggs different color, porous, etc?

Ok guys a little excitement around here the past few hours. Power went out due to strong winds blowing down power poles. As you know I'm /we are incubating here. So hot water bottles and move the chicks to a new box with the bottles. 4 eggs are quitters one NN almost made it but he died along with the quitters. 15 hatched which leaves 4 eggs left. I put them in an egg carton on the hearth as I'm cleaning up the incubator. Well the wife hears them chirping and tells me she's hearing them. I can't hear them but tell her that when I get every thing cleaned up I'll try and keep them warm till power comes on. Not giving them much of a chance as it's already a day late, and power was off 3 hours. So she takes them and puts them under the blanket with her as I finish up. She says not only are they peeping but she can feel them moving. Power is back on now and they are back in incubator three have pipped external now.

I think all NN eggs have hatched naked. Is that normal? Don't some come out with feathers on their necks?

We don't usually put the heating on in the house (not sure I know exactly how to) but it is 64 degrees and my feet are cold. Does it sound like it is time???
Guess I could put on some socks......
