Basically it is almost impossible to import even one egg! ( although the agricultural ministry have imported last year almost 100,000,000 eggs from Turkey, Ukraine, Spain and a lot of them where infected with Salmonella! So f.... them! )

Which is one of the reasons I raise mine although much freer to do so here. Several times we've had salmonella here with eggs from producers.

That stinks :/ We don't really eat venison either but since my dogs eat raw, that would be an amazing find!

the passed three deer the other morning within half a mile of each other that people just left. It is a crying shame. Unfortunately, I was in my Semi working so I could not do anything.

This is why i'm big on free-range eggs. Less likely to have sick chickens, and diseases when they are kept in healthier conditions.

I saw that picture he showed and was wondering what it was and F1 did not tell me anything.... Unless that is the Eve of the chicken world and we now know the chicken came before the egg.

X2, I got one from my turkey pen yesterday. Never got one from them before so it was weird.

If they weren't being fed a layer feed with extra calcium, I would agree with you. They've also had oyster shell out there, too. It's random. I'll get 2-3 good eggs, then find a soft-shelled one.

I'm pretty sure my RIR is the one who's doing it. She's laying regular eggs, then throws a soft one. She's our alpha, and is the one who eats all the layer feed and any supplements/treats out there.

I used to have a hen, she was a SLW, who routinely laid sod eggs. It actualy became a thing with her, at least once a week, sometimes as often as every 3 eggs. She moved on to a new home but it was the strangest thing. She always had access to oyster shell too.

Have you ever tried to hatch one??? LOL My kid asked if we could try.

I thought about trying that, just to see what would happen. But id want to do it in its own incubator and I think humidity would probably have to be pretty high.


Speaking of hatching, my broody was off her nest this morning to grab some breakfast and I checked her eggs. 3 of 4 are peeping! We may be seeing babies tonight or tomorrow!
