I've been up under this section before in the attic (it's been a problem in the past as well) - it was terrifying, because I had gone up there on a day like today because I was afraid it would blow off the house, so I was trying to tack it down during the gusts. Which is why I DID NOT do that today. But I digress...

It's way too low to even stand upright except at the very peak of the house. There's this funny add-on framing on top of/next to the gravel roof core of the house, and it extends out to the edges and is quite low. I can walk on the roof over to this area, and then the last two feet or so toward the edge is framing and the "roof of the deck (which I would go straight through). Basically, provided I can place my feet correctly, I can sort of wiggle in there and squat just shy of this particular seam (too low to get directly under it). So, using tough gloves (so I don't cut my hands), I'll probably just push it up with my arms/body. While I'd like to fix it better while up there, I sort of need to see what things look like first...

Eventually, with the remodel, I'm taking off that whole section of the house (an add on bedroom that was added on by a previous owner badly, and not to code, and is shifting away form the core house). I'll then put in a proper garage there instead.

Maybe I'll take photos while I'm up there, for fun...

I promise - I am very anti-injury. I would have to be taken to the hospital across the street.... and be treated by former and current students of mine. And explain whatever stupid thing I was doing when I was injured. No thank you.

speaking of the Baby Huey's-the surprise curly ducks are due on 1/25. they went into lockdown today! everything looked good. 1 out of 8 was questionable. Hoping my friends will let me use part of their barn!!! I didnt expect that many to make it
