EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Agreed!!!! SO glad you're safe! :hugs

:plbb
Thanks - it cleared up, at least enough to work effectively, thank goodness (since I have lots to do). Not sure I'll be steady enough of the attic though...

That is so cool!!!! (No pun intended...)

Ah, yes, good point. And my chickens want me to soak the kibble first to eat it, so the canned fish might be better....
Everything I've gotten from Thermoworks has been fantastic. I think @ChickenCanoe
has the link to a good one that's not too expensive.

OK, gotta run!!!

Anyone hooooooome? I'm due to ship eggs this week to a cold region. What do y'all use to keep the eggs warm? Do hot hands get too hot? What lasts longest? Obviously they don't need the warmth leaving from here...

Insulate well, I think the hot hands would be cold hands long before they get there. I try to ship in the warmer spells and keep my fingers crossed.

@Fire Ant Farm I picked up some "hamburger" cat treat food stuff today. I am going to try anything short of cutting the beaks on these. I may just have to watch them close. These are some of my best hens. They do well in the shows. They are my Doms from Urch's line.

If I recall correctly, there's a link to 72 hr heat packs in the shipped eggs section of notes. It's at the beginning of the article,, I think?

A guy wrote me an email wanting to know if I would discount these to 5$ each if he bought 20 0f them... I have not answered him yet, as I do not want my acid tongue to get me in trouble with a potential customer...

Why you ask would I be snarky to him..

Howdy yall. Made it back from the trip. Just shy of 2000 miles in 10 days. Twins did amazing for the ride and all the family enjoyed seeing them. Did a very sporadic read back. How's everybody doing?

You can't keep them warm! Unless you put some electrical or chimical heater!
Egg don't emits heat! So any insulation will keep the less heat energy AKA cold out! But it will not warm them!

The notes right below it suggest I need to include a 9-3 with the eggs, but the info I read on the NM site said eggs didn't need anything. So send it just to be safe?

I ordered some of the 72-hour heat packs so that will work, right? That will emit the heat and insulation will retain the heat?
