EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Anyone here have a 21 day old chicken egg sink, but wiggle in the water test?

What does that mean? What can I do to improve its chances of hatching.
My temp is 100 and humidity is 65

Probably nothing at this point.
If it sinks, it likely didn't lose enough weight.
The humidity probably was too high.
Not that hatch is due, the humidity still needs to be fairly high.

Speaking of eggs sold 7 dozen so far this week. $3 each
That's great Penn!! I took some as a gift to my cousins (a really pretty mixed carton). The whole family was taking pictures and I think we spent an hour talking about chickens. One of my better family parties

I forgot wich hole i close.the one above the fan or the other one

What do your notes say??

Ok seeing as how I have the same incubator, extensively modified, but the same I will tell you what I recall mine saying.

The hole above the fan open wouldn't allow me to properly regulate humidity. It stayed way too low regardless of how much water I had in it.

The other hole open seemed to work decent but still wasn't to my liking.

Ultimately what worked best for me was leaving both holes open. Better exchange rate of air. That's the recommendation after I think day 10 anyway as per the incubator owners manual.

That's condensed notes of 3 different hatches and what seemed to work best for me.

Did you add the fan or was it a forced air from the beginning?

@ChickenCanoeNo, just a house I designed from two plans and had built.

As to vet stuff, like all college costs now it is outrageous, and people treat things that other generations counties never would. The equipment is basically the same as hospital stuff too. I could not afford to spend what many people do. I have a conservative limit, and after that I have to remove my giving, my expenses, and my other animals.

With so many people in need I have to consider that more important.
