EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Good morning Abi, good morning everyone else. :frow

No. Well, maybe. Kinda. But not really.

Aaaaand... I woke up to 5 more pips this morning! All but one of the OE eggs, and Switch's egg. Apparently they were nervous about being in those net bags and want out or something.

Thanks, MC! Where did you get my to do list - did I leave it lying around again?
- Ant Farm

I think it's everyone's list!
After a sleepless night, I had the pleasure of playing with the plumbing this morning. Not how I wanted to start my day! Took a shower in under three minutes (keep in mind that my hair is down to my hips) in standing water. Drank cold coffee while waiting for Westley (the coffee machine) to brew fresh coffee. Then Duckling woke early. :D
I still have animal work to do, and a kitchen to clean.
Something needs to give with the tub. Meanwhile, Duckling will be swimming in the kitchen sink.

I don't think she will fit :p

I hope the rest of your day goes well. :frow

Not a clue... Is that from 'Apocalypto'? Never could stand to watch a subtitled movie but I loved that one.
OMG, how is it that you don't know this movie?!?!?! It's not Apocalypto, and not subtitled. :th

Silver laced Wyandottes and Wyandot Indians. I don't know about the third.
Nope - Magua was Huron. :D
Any pictures of the blue eggs? If they are, I am interested. I originally was going for Sapphires, but the color was not there. The one Sapphire pullet I got lays an egg that is like the tinted whit paint. There is a blue green tint, but that is it. I got rid of the two cocks and just left the leghorns with my Ameruacana.
Here is one of my roosters last fall before the winter trimming. Middle is legbar outside are EE, you can tell by shape too. Below is a carton it looks like 3 or 4 Legbar eggs. The blue is never as bright in real bright light I took this last summer just to show all the variations in color. Here is a little White legbar pullet. I think she knows @Fire Ant Farm look at that scowl. These are three eggs they laid under the nest box in the bedding, but with low lights the blue really pops..
:plbb Nice egg colors! I have a green tint to my most saturated eggs - I do have more blue ones, but they are a little less saturated (more washed out looking), and they are from the hen with ocular Mareks. I have a total of five laying legbar hens/pullets, and that'll do for now for me - but I want Ameraucanas in the future - I'd like to cross them with NNs to get green eggs and a pea comb. (I was going to with Goodwin, but alas, he's gone...) Here's my egg skelter in my kitchen this AM (forgive the mess - that's on the to do list as well). You can see the lighter blue eggs (Jenny) and the deeply saturated blue green eggs (Lissa and the Three Witches). The color of blue eggs is always really hard to get on camera - direct sunlight is best for accuracy in the hue, I find... - Ant Farm
Indeed! It is Magua from the "last of the Mohicans" based on the famous novel of James Fenimore Cooper, and the chickens are Wyandotte, but wat is the connection, FAF you are almost there

Ticks beware!!!!! The guineas are coming!! (Just don't let them bully your chickens, Dan.)

I've been reading more about geese. I want them, but I think I'm going to wait until I get the house renovated (in the next few years). Gives me time to really get pasture set up for them, and put up some swimming options. But it's still fun to read about.

I've been tracking (last hatch and this one) timing of pip, zip, and hatch for each egg to the best of my ability - partly to learn, and partly because I like and aspire to a tightly spaced hatch. So far so good, because I run temps ~100.4F like Sally recommended and that helps a lot. I'm such a data queen...

OK, I gotta go. Busy day, and then I might come home to BABIES IN THE 'BATOR!!!!!!!!

I'll have Sebastapol geese that should start laying over the summer.... if you want hatching eggs. I told Dwayne and Liz, I'd save her a few, too. But you, I could hatch and bring live babies too.

is the symbol named for Indians too?

Is the symbol for an Indian tribe too?

What color are you :D
What color are you :D

According to our history All the known Jewish today are the children of only 2 tribes, Judha יהודה and Levi לוי, ( that don't appear in your chart! ) so I must be Sardius!
The word Judah יהודה is the origin of the word Judaism, יהדות, and Jewish יהודים.
But by name Benjamin I must be Amethyst!
