EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

It's a wooden box lined with 2" thick Styrofoam that is sealed (I have air holes, though). Do you mean put a pan under the whole thing, on the floor of the room??? Battling against a wood stove in the same room, might have something to do with it. Have two HUGE pans on the wood stove.

No moisture on viewing area. How do I calibrate it?

Yea under the whole thing. Battling that wood stove is going to be a fight. It eats your moisture! maybe another pan on the stove to increase the ambient humidity.

Good luck

I assume one was mad, and the other was trying to show off. Or, I'm the complete jerk I'm accused of being.
Pshhhhh... You're not a big jerk... I on the other hand will eventually be branded an animal hater, since I'm all for getting "rid" of animal that are chicken killers if you can't keep birds safe....

you were gonna give them to mc and chaos,
dumpster or incinerator

If my daughter was having surgery, I would not care how old she is or how much she does not want me there. I would be there... I am 100% behind your Dad staying there! Accept it, he loves you and is worried. You are his little girl, He sees you in his mind as a toddler. This I know well.

Best to you!
you sound like a good dad

How do I calibrate it? Trying not to open it, it's the same hygrometer I always use, never thought about it not being right.

I filled up the water pan when I locked down yesterday, added the two others shortly after. Water pan filled up with a tube, so I don't have to open it. It apparently got up to 64% at some point, guessing cause I filled with really warm water, but went back down.

The one below is shallow, and probably at least 7 x 12 inches of surface area. Two above are only deep to be safe for chicks, both are at least 6 x 6 inches in surface area. Cannot add sponge to shallow pan down below, can't reach it without moving eggs and haven't made necessary modifications for board and styro in front of it to swing away (lesson learned for next time) to allow for access.
I guess I will try throwing some damp towels in there.
have you used this one before??

Heading to finish up last minute brooder water fills and check on everything and get dressed. Thanks everyone for the prayers and thoughts....

hugs to all

add more water to your room, maybe one of those misting humidifiers, ambient fluctuations will affect your bator
your wood stove is going to suck up all the moisture, try draping a towel in the pan on the stove but hanging over the side so it acts like a wick
