Thanks (why does the rain have to come in these gajillion-inches-per-hour spasms, and then not for months?! ). Power flickered so I went over with the mini-generator to plug in the heating pads for the littler chicks into it and to check on them (make sure roof wasn't leaking into the brooders or something). Naked Necks, from the best I could see, are huddled and soaked on their perches. (One of these days maybe they'll learn to sleep indoors???) Roof is indeed trying to come apart. I'm going back to bed - it'll all be there for me to clean up or deal with in the morning...

(BTW - top tip - you know those little Rubbermaid plastic stepping stools? Turned upside down they do a great job when placed under a leak in the ceiling. Hey, I can pretend I have an indoor water feature in my den...)


That being said, I think the worst has passed. I hope I can get back to sleep.

Well - 2 nights of no power right before hatch, I just went into lock down today, so we will see what happens this week. They were alive when I candled them yesterday before my power went out, again. LOL
