EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

I found it! It is an Egyptian goose. Not native to the US. I don't have a clue where it came from...

I'm pretty sure I had a mulard once, picked up with a bunch of other pure bred hatchery ducks from a private owned farmers market that sells all sorts of poultry in the spring.
Thing was the smallest ended up growing super quick and got bigger than the pekins, was super ugly but not a moscovy, had huge wings that were so big it couldn't even tuck them in all the way.

BABIES, NEED MORE BABIES :love :love :love :love what breeds?!

CH why you have them on newspaper? We've gone over this.

Banti I already sent a nice little ovation kindly suggesting that but right now his only concern is how much he can get a piece for unsexed mixed breed chicks!!! Stay focused woman!!!!! :old :P :lau

CH nobody is saying you have ugly birds. But you have a lot working against you. The are first and foremost mixed breed unsexed chicks. I have to assume you are not NPIP and not sure if you have any biosecurity. All hatcheries have this. They sell pure bred sexed chicks for about $3 each for the breeds you mentioned. So does Tractor Supply. So to give you an honest answer, unless you have a really cool rare project bird from good lines, the demand I would say is not there to ask more than $2 a chick. If you can get them to a local swap and sell them at auction I have to say you will be lucky to get $40-$50 minus any fees the venue charges. I wish you luck and congrats on your hatch.

I have no idea what your demand is either, I doubt you will make much on them.

I sell EE for $1 each if a person buys 50 or more. $1.50 if less than that. Other than taking some to swaps so people can have a cheap chicken. I do not bother with them until someone puts an order in. Then I make the pay a 50% deposit, because I am not getting stuck with a load of mutts.

I have enough and will pick up a few during the year that don't get sold to replace the ones I feed to the eagles, hawks and furbearing critters, because I am such a good environmentalist.

. Temps and humidity have held steady the entire timeand more eggs made it to lockdown in this batch then other previously. Maybe the secret is letting them cook a little longer
