Here is my candler. I used a piece of a blue pool noodle and some electrical tape. The foam part os great. My husband is letting me borrow his flashlight, he is kinda a flashlight hoarder IMO, so my foam part is removable. I could us a stonger light but the cover is cheap, awesome and temporary.

DARK EGGS = Try more than one flashlight!
I know I don't explain things the best, here is a photo..like I said, have been using this for yrs. And yes, that tape is fine, gets a bit warm if I take a long time candling, say..30 eggs. Never been a problem overheating though. Cynthia12
I just clip it on the bottom drawer when I want to candle.![]()
Nice collection of info and candlers. But all that candling looks like way too much egg handling to me.
I have to say, I'm with Ralphie on this one.
Eat one for me.Off to go see kitties at the animal shelter.
Yes but it isn't local in February. You don't have there, where you live, places that sell imprted fruits?
I had a collection like that. Some were even farther off. I have a couple collecting dust somewhere and threw the rest away. Bought a couple good ones. But what do you do when you get this???
A degree or two might not make a difference when you are decided whether to wear a jacket or not, but it can make a heck of a difference when you're incubating eggs for 3 weeks. And yes, they were calibrated (they just didn't STAY calibrated) using the ice and water method - well, all except one that I didn't get the plastic bag sealed up well enough and it met an unfortunate demise by drowning. <sigh>
I went to break up a fight today and the rooster I was about to grab jumped to attack me. I gave him a pass because of the heat of the moment. But he's on a short leash.I am thinking these people have never met my Polish rooster. He has 4 brain cells and cannot remember what happens to him when he attacks me as I feed him from day to day..
Or that throwing himself against the wire to attack me fails everytime...
Regular good old bison for me.i would love to have beefalo bison/hereford crossesthats another reason for wanting lots of land![]()
horses kill plants too, unlike cows horses rip out roots and will eat soil if they are lacking vitamins in their diet, they can turn a field into a wasteland very quickly unless you carefully rotate them
my husband doesnt want to get another horse because if we get another horse they no longer consider them a pet but now it is a farmand taxes/insurance goes crazy![]()
Pet to farm consequences do seem crazy.
Never had that issue here.
You certainly do. The sweet and docile award.Do I get an award for keeping my mouth shut when my dispatcher who comes in at seven thirty and leaves at five tells me that he knows I don't like to start too early (usually start 5-5:30), but he needs me to be an hour and forty five minutes away by six in the morning. Especially, when I am still working and likely won't be off before six???????![]()
There has been a gravel driveway here forever (well over 100 years) and it has migrated all over the place.Animals are not an issue with the stone, 2A driveway stone is not kicked up by birds, its the children who kick it all over the place and have to play with it other places in the yard. I will again have to remind the kids to keep the stones where they are or be put to work finding stones in the grass and putting them back come spring again.
This is not MomMoms bootcamp for no reason mind you..... muwahhahhhahhahaaaa
I have seen hens kicking it off the drive.
I hate that because the gravel makes the soil more alkaline. The large trees make it very shady and most shade loving plants for this climate are acid loving.
If I had it to do over again, I would have brought in a bobcat and dump truck, scraped off a foot or so of soil and laid down all new soil.
@ChickenCanoe So what is up with the two culls to be? Are they just not good enough?
